Bridal hairstyles featuring braids are some of my favourite. Braids are very versatile; they can add texture to a hairstyle, make a simple hairstyle more interesting, add structure and create intricacy. Delicate braids can be used in romantic, soft styles or you can add layers of messy, textured braids to create a really beautiful look. Braids look especially fantastic in the summer as they have an instantly fresh feel to them. There is also an abundance of different braids to choose from such as plaits, fishtail braids, French braids, dutch braids….the list goes on!
I personally like to use braids in a messy boho style updo. Using a great salt spray such as L’oreal’s Matt and Messy on ready tonged tousled curls will create great texture to the hair. Random plaits, twists and fishtails braids can then be created. Rubbing some mattifying volumising powder such as Schwarzkopf Got2be Powder’ful into the braids and pulling bit out and loosening them up can create even more fabulous texture. The hair can then be pinned up to create an amazingly intricate but effortlessly chic bohemian updo. Adding a few sprigs of baby’s breath into the hair can really finish off this kind of style and looks great for a summer wedding.

These floating flowers were seen all over Bridal Fashion Week and a huge trend for 2016. Floral accessories are the perfect addition to bridal hair for a spring/summer wedding. Flowers and floral head garlands are also great for bridesmaids to compliment a floaty maxi.
These chic hair accessories are so versatile and can be used in whichever hairstyle you choose for your wedding day. Not only do flowers work great for bohemian bridal themes, but they can also work amazingly well for classic and chic styles; for example placing a beautiful lily to the side of your sleek chignon can really compliment the whole look. Small delicate flowers or big statement flowers can both be used to pimp up your hairstyle. From single bloom to amazing floral crowns, you can use this trend in so many different ways to add a sweet, charming touch to your wedding hair look. Flowers are also perfect for your wedding day as they can add a pop of colour to a plain white ensemble or your wedding theme can be easily incorporated into your hairstyle with the use of flowers.

Statement accessories were huge at this year’s Bridal Fashion Week. Jewelled accessories such as tiaras and combs are classic additions to bridal hairstyles but this will be taken up a notch in 2016 when big statement crows and headdresses will be popular choices for brides that want to stand out!
Choosing the right hair bling for you…
Tiaras – A traditional choice among brides, tiaras don’t have to be big and blingy, small and delicate crystal tiaras can also compliment a more understated bride. There are tiaras to suit most hairstyles but if you want to go for something bigger, a bouffant style is batter to balance out the accessory and also helps the frame the tiara.
Headbands – The headband is another versatile headpiece. A classic Alice band is great for a cute and girly wedding look. If you are after a more vintage look, 1920’s inspired headbands can be a real statement piece and complete your entire look. Be sure to try out your headband though – some can dig in and cause headaches. Your wedding day is a long one and your want your hair accessory to be as comfortable as possible.
Hair combs – These are a great, simple way to “pimp up” your wedding. Hair combs come in a wide range of sizes and designs from small and delicate to big, embellished statement pieces. Hair combs are usually a more subtle choice of hair accessory, as unlike tiaras and headbands, you will only be able to see your hair comb from certain angles. I personally think these looked great placed into the side of a beautiful updo.
Hair pins – If you’re after some subtle bling, crystal hair pins could be the answer for you. If your dress is quite busy and already has a lot of embellishment but you want something in your hair to compliment the sparkle, little pins scattered in your hair is a great alternative to the other hair accessories.
Pretty in Pink

Brides look great with natural, glowing make-up. Gorgeous pearlescent skin gives a bride a natural radiance – teaming this with some pretty pink hues looks beautiful on all brides. English rose complexions look great with dusty rose lips and soft pink cheeks. Subtly contoured eyes with a touch of pink shadow, pearly highlights, flirty lashes and fine liner complete this look. Another take on this look is to use more peach tones as seen at Lela Rose. Peach and coral tones can help to warm up a complexion and looks great for the summer on bronzed skin. Glossy lips, cream blush and a touch of bronzer help to create a fresh and pretty look.
Soft Smokey Eyes

A favourite choice for most brides, soft brown, smokey eye shadow can add definition to the eye without being too overpowering. Featured a lot this Bridal Fashion Week, earthy toned browns are more wearable and natural than greys and blacks. Smudged dark brown pencil liner and defined lashes and great to complete this look. Team these smokey eyes with a flushed cheek and nude lips for a gorgeous wedding day make-up look.
